Final Days to Nominate a New Mexico True Hero

Nomination Period Closes September 3, 2018

(Santa Fe, N.M.) — We know that New Mexico is full of amazing people. From little league coaches and public servants to volunteers, veterans, and teachers. Every city, town, and village have remarkable citizens that make it such a special place to live.

The State of New Mexico, along with the New Mexico Bowl, is searching for four extraordinary New Mexicans who make their communities a better place to live, work, and raise a family. These individuals will be recognized by Governor Susana Martinez this fall and receive VIP access and special recognition at the New Mexico Bowl on December 15, 2018.

With only one week left for nominations, this is your final opportunity to shine a spotlight on someone in your community by nominating them as a New Mexico True Hero.  The nomination form is available at NMTourism.org.

Nominations are open to all ages and will remain open through 11:59 pm MT on September 3, 2018. A panel of judges from around the state will determine the Top 10 finalists, and four New Mexico True Heroes will be named this fall. The nomination form asks two key questions: “What makes this person a New Mexico True Hero?” and “How have the nominee’s efforts made a difference in his or her community?”

About New Mexico True Heroes: Governor Susana Martinez first announced the New Mexico True Heroes program, a partnership between the New Mexico Tourism Department and the New Mexico Bowl, in 2014. The New Mexico True Heroes program was created to highlight outstanding New Mexicans and bring attention to their good deeds and service to the state. The program has allowed the state to recognize 18 outstanding New Mexicans thus far. Honorees are recognized at the annual New Mexico Bowl in December.

About New Mexico True: At the direction of Governor Susana Martinez, the New Mexico Tourism Department created the New Mexico True brand in response to misconceptions that New Mexico is a dry, arid, barren desert state with nothing to do. Built upon the idea that a trip to New Mexico is an “adventure that feeds the soul,” the brand advertising campaign provides a platform for unified brand messaging for more than 50 communities and businesses around the state. New Mexico True received two prestigious national awards for “Best Digital Campaign,” along with the award for “Best Cooperative Marketing Campaign” and an Hermes Gold Creative Award for the brand’s website, NewMexico.org. Since the launch of the brand in 2012, the economic impact of tourism in New Mexico has grown for seven consecutive years.
