UTEP and Fresno State to face-off in PUBG MOBILE New Mexico Bowl

Miners and Bulldogs will meet Dec. 18 on ESPN and ESPN Radio for 16^th annual Bowl in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of Texas-El Paso and Fresno State have been selected to participate in the 16^th annual PUBG MOBILE New Mexico Bowl. The game will be played Saturday, Dec. 18 at 12:15 pm MT at University Stadium in Albuquerque and will be televised nationally on ESPN and broadcast on ESPN Radio.

Fresno State enters the game having won five of its last six games en route to a 9-3 record on the year and a second-place finish in the West Division of the Mountain West Conference. This is the third appearance by the Bulldogs in the New Mexico Bowl and the 30^th overall bowl appearance in program history.

“The Fresno State Bulldogs are a power again and we very excited to welcome them back to Albuquerque,” said Executive Director Jeff Siembieda. “This is a talented and entertaining football team that has been impressive all season. With an incredibly passionate fan base and one of the best teams on the West Coast, we are in for a great show.”

UTEP went 7-5 in the 2021 campaign, matching their highest win total since the 2014 season, which saw the Miners appear in the New Mexico Bowl as well. UTEP will play in its 15^th bowl game in program history. Making their third trip to the New Mexico Bowl, the Miners are looking for their first win in postseason action since the 1967 Sun Bowl.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the Miners and their fans back to the post-season and back to the PUBG MOBILE New Mexico Bowl,” said Siembieda. “Dana Dimel has done a terrific job with an exciting football team, and they’re in the midst of a special season.”

The New Mexico Bowl has also come to an agreement with PUBG MOBILE, the popular free-to-play battle royale video game, for the 16^th iteration of the New Mexico Bowl to be named the PUBG MOBILE New Mexico Bowl.
